  1. Write of Passage: Teen Short Stories

    Teens, are you published? Wanna be? Submit your original short story to the Bedford Public Library. The top stories will be published in a collection available at the Library! Email entries to sarah.featherstone@bedfordtx.gov by December 31. Rules: Participants must be ages 13-18. Entries must be typed and submitted as a Word doc, Google doc, or PDF. Please include your name, age, phone number, and email address. Entries must be at least 500 words and no more than 2,000 words or five pages. One short story per teen. Short stories must be original work and have a title. Copyrighted characters are not allowed. Library staff reserves the right to refuse any short stories deemed inappropriate for publication.

Rules: Participants must be ages 9-12. Entries must be typed and submitted to alexa.bynum-soto@bedfordtx.gov by December 31st, 2021, in order to be eligible. Please include your name, age, email, and phone number with your entry. Entries should be no more than 2,000 words. If you have any illustrations you wish to accompany your story, please include a scanned copy in your submissions. All illustrations must be completed in pen. One short story per participant. Short stories must be original work and have a title. Library staff reserves the right to refuse any short stories deemed inappropriate for publication.

    Pool is a classification of cue sports played on a table with six pockets along the rails , into which balls are deposited. Each specific pool game has its own name; some of the better-known include eight-ball, blackball, nine-ball, ten-ball, seven-ball, straight pool, one-pocket, and bank pool.     Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Come follow along with the class to a dvd. This is a very light hearted class. All are welcome.

    Mahjong or mah-jongg is a tile-based game that was developed in the 19th century in China and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. It is commonly played by four players (with some three-player variations found in parts of China, Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia). The game and its regional variants are widely played throughout Eastern and South Eastern Asia and have also become popular in Western countries. The game has also been adapted into a widespread online entertainment.
