  1. Veteran's Day Celebratory Fun Run

    Join us as we celebrate our veterans with a family fun run! Everyone (including your four-legged family members) is invited to attend as we run, walk, or dance our way from Harris Ryals Park to Meadow Park (0.7 miles each way). Take the loop and return or end your celebration there. Wear your best red, white, and blue as prizes will be awarded for most patriotic family and individual. Water will be provided. All veterans in attendance will be recognized. Parking will be available at Spring Garden Elementary School and the YMCA parking lot. All activities are weather permitting and subject to change.

  1. Write of Passage: Teen Short Stories

    Teens, are you published? Wanna be? Submit your original short story to the Bedford Public Library. The top stories will be published in a collection available at the Library! Email entries to sarah.featherstone@bedfordtx.gov by December 31. Rules: Participants must be ages 13-18. Entries must be typed and submitted as a Word doc, Google doc, or PDF. Please include your name, age, phone number, and email address. Entries must be at least 500 words and no more than 2,000 words or five pages. One short story per teen. Short stories must be original work and have a title. Copyrighted characters are not allowed. Library staff reserves the right to refuse any short stories deemed inappropriate for publication.

  2. Teen Art Show

    Teens, show us your art! Submit your original paintings, drawings, digital art, or photography November 1 to 15 for the Sixth Annual Teen Art Show. Participants must be in grades 7 to 12. Artwork will be displayed in the Lobby from November 22 to December 19 for a public vote (virtual voting will also be available) and the winners will be awarded Amazon gift card prizes. First place: $100 gift card; 2nd Place: $75; 3rd Place: $50; Honorable Mention: $25.

Rules: Participants must be ages 9-12. Entries must be typed and submitted to alexa.bynum-soto@bedfordtx.gov by December 31st, 2021, in order to be eligible. Please include your name, age, email, and phone number with your entry. Entries should be no more than 2,000 words. If you have any illustrations you wish to accompany your story, please include a scanned copy in your submissions. All illustrations must be completed in pen. One short story per participant. Short stories must be original work and have a title. Library staff reserves the right to refuse any short stories deemed inappropriate for publication.

  6. BPL Stitchers

    This monthly program provides an opportunity for stitchers of all skill levels and techniques to gather for sharing and learning. BPL Stitchers is about fostering, studying, and preserving the art of embroidery, beadwork, Blackwork, Brazilian, and much more. This group meets on the 2nd Saturday and the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Registration is not required.

  7. Second Saturdays Teen Event

    Teens, come to the Library's after-hours events for games, hijinks, and entertainment. Ages 13 to 18. Online registration is required. This month, we'll celebrate Fall with a Thanksgiving Party! Join us for a turkey-themed scavenger hunt, a holiday 'football' game, crafts, and more! For a bit of nostalgia, we'll also be showing A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (G). Snacks and drinks will be provided.
