During last night’s City Council meeting, Mayor Michael Boyter announced he was stepping down as Mayor, effective today, September 13 at 5 p.m. In his remarks, he said he felt that upon approving the 2023-2024 budget that it was, “a good time for me to step aside and let others pick up the mantle from here.”
In addressing the Council and community, Mayor Boyter highlighted the numerous improvements that have been made both in the community and for City employees while he served as Mayor. Boyter was elected Mayor in November 2019 to fill an unexpired term and was reelected in May 2021 to a three-year term, ending in May 2024. Prior to that, he served on Council from 2012-2015 and was appointed to fill a vacant position on Council in 2017. The City Council will work with the City’s attorney to determine the next steps and the City will share more information once the Council has taken further action.
