We love seeing art come to life in Bedford! Earlier this year, the City challenged Harwood Junior High School art students to create a design for the crosswalk located at Martin Drive, directly in front of the school. From those submitted designs, a subcommittee chose three finalists and the winner, Ace Utter.

In June, City staff, HJH art teacher Ashleigh Milligan, Ace, and family members hand-painted the design (in between all the rain) onto the crosswalk. The group first chalked out the design, then mixed special paint and materials that are used in crosswalks to create a safe and reflective surface. The crosswalk will be touched up at least once a year, or as needed.

Thank you to Ace and everyone who played a role in making this project a reality!
