[ARCHIVED] Bedford Police Press Release

Bedford PD Press Release Graphic

Just before 2 a.m. this morning, a Bedford Police Officer observed a suspected drunk driver speeding on Hwy. 183 and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle refused to yield and began shooting at the officer in pursuit.

The pursuit continued for several miles and ended in Dallas, around the 2200 block of N. Stemmons Fwy. When the driver finally stopped, he exited his vehicle and began firing at officers again, striking police vehicles, other vehicles, and an innocent bystander nearby with complete disregard for anyone in the area.

Officers returned fire and the suspect is deceased. Dallas Police and the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the incident. At this time, the suspect’s identity is not being released.

The bystander was taken to the hospital and no officers were injured during the incident. For media inquiries, please call the Dallas Police Department Public Information Office at 214-671-4065.
