The City of Bedford has hired Caryn Riggs as its Chief Financial Officer and head of the Financial Services Division. With almost 18 years of municipal experience, she most recently served as Chief Financial Officer for the City of Grand Prairie. Riggs’ first day with Bedford will be Monday, March 7.

“Caryn is a talented professional and her financial expertise will be a tremendous asset to the City of Bedford,” said Bedford City Manager Jimmy Stathatos. “She will help ensure we maximize each tax dollar as we reach important financial goals and tackle major projects benefitting our residents.”

As a Certified Government Finance Officer, Riggs has experience in preparing the annual budget and financial report, overseeing investments, and reconciling and monitoring a Capital Improvement Program. In addition, she’s skilled in supervising the daily accounting function, purchasing operations, as well as the payroll function of a municipality.

“I’m thrilled to join the Bedford at a time when so many exciting things are happening,” Caryn Riggs said. “I’ve heard a lot of positive things about the direction of the organization and can’t wait to be a part of the Bedford team.”

Riggs holds both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in business administration from Texas Woman’s University.
