[ARCHIVED] Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Bedford is prepared and is thinking ahead.

The Fire Department has increased its readiness to respond to incidents involving infectious disease by working in cooperation with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), the Tarrant County Health Department, the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council (NCTTRAC), and the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NTGCOG).  In addition, they continue to use and follow the CDC-compliant patient treatment and handling protocols and have purchased and deployed additional responder personal protective equipment (PPE).

The City is in the process of purchasing extra hand sanitizers and wipes for employees and guests and will be deploying hand sanitizer stands at the public entrances of all City buildings.

There are things that you can do.

  • Be sure to practice good health habits including the following:
  • Wash hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds;
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if there is no soap available;
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, then throw the tissue in the trash; or cough or sneeze into elbow;
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands;
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick;
  • Stay home while you have a fever or experience illness;
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
