Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Bedford is prepared and is thinking ahead.

The City of Bedford has increased its readiness to respond to incidents involving infectious disease by working in cooperation with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), the Tarrant County Health Department, the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council (NCTTRAC), and the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NTGCOG). Additionally, we continue to observe and follow all Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations and protocols.

If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and you develop a fever with the associated symptoms, such as cough, call your healthcare provider for medical advice.  PLEASE only call 911 or go to the emergency room if you have a true medical emergency!

The following symptoms of COVID-19 typically appear 2-14 days after exposure:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

There are things that you can do.

Most cases of COVID-19 do not become life-threatening and can be treated at home through physician advice.

  • Stay home while you have a fever or experience illness;
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Be sure to practice good health habits including the following:
    • Wash hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds;
    • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if there is no soap available;
    • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, then throw the tissue in the trash; or cough or sneeze into elbow;
    • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands;
