The Bedford Animal Shelter is hosting a FREE foster class on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at the Bedford Public Library. This class is recommended for anyone wishing to foster animals for the Bedford Animal Shelter. Topics will cover bottle feeding, transitioning to solid food, basic medical care, senior animal care, and "what if" scenarios. Instruction led by long time volunteer and foster parent, Kim Hochreiter, with assistance from shelter staff. For additional questions, please call the Bedford Animal Shelter at 817-952-2191.

Keep Bedford Beautiful invites the community to attend Clean Up Bedford Day from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2020. Volunteers of all ages are invited to participate. Keep Bedford Beautiful will provide supplies such as litter pickers, trash and recycle bags and gloves. Water and snacks will be provided as well.
Meet at the Boys Ranch Activity Center at 9:00 a.m. to pick up supplies and location assignments. Specific areas targeted for cleaning are major streets, parks, parking lots, City Hall, the Police and Fire Stations, as well as the Post Offices, Library, Old Bedford School and other public areas.

Bedford residents may visit the Arlington Landfill on the fourth Saturday of every month from February to November to dispose of bulk waste at no charge. No charge service is limited to individual homeowners only, waste delivered in cars or pickups or 8’ long trailers, larger loads or commercial business loads will be charged a fee. Service does not include the disposal of Hazardous Waste. There will be a charge of $25 per E-Waste item (TV’s, Computers, printers, DVD players, etc.)

Tarrant County Master Gardeners in partnership with Keep Bedford Beautiful and the Bedford Farmers Market is pleased to bring the fourth annual Plant Sale!
Along with the thousands of Annual, Perennial and Native Texas plants, there will be educational talks and information by Master Gardeners to help the public conserve water, save money, and support the environment. There will be plants that attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds to encourage pollination, honey production, and monarch migration.
A Tool Sharpening Booth will be available to sharpen pruners, scissors, shovels, hand tools, etc. for a minimum charge.

This program covers the basics and benefits of rainwater harvesting and the effects stormwater has on the environment. Participants will learn how to collect and utilize rainwater at home and have the opportunity to construct their very own 55-gallon rain barrel. Rain barrels are recycled food-grade containers and are roughly 24" wide by 36" tall. By ordering a rain barrel(s), you are registered to attend the class. REBATE FOR CITY OF BEDFORD RESIDENTS ONLY: Barrels for City of Bedford Residents will be only $25! Registered addresses will be verified.

Join us for a purr-fect afternoon with cats brought by the rescue. Light refreshments will be served. 30-minute time slots will be available from 2:00-2:30pm, 2:30-3:00pm, 3:00-3:30pm, & 3:30-4:00pm. Come & spend some quality time with some cuddly kitties.

Adoption applications will be available. However, no cats will be adopted out during the event.
