Cops and Canines 5K

Grab your pups! The Bedford Police Department will host its inaugural Cops and Canines 5K and 1 mile Mutt Strut on Saturday, March 25 at Generations Park at Boys Ranch, 2801 Forest Ridge Dr. 

Overview

The 5K route will start and end at Generations Park at Boys Ranch, and wrap around nearby Bedford neighborhoods. One mile Mutt Strutt participants will run/walk two laps around the lake within Generations Park at Boys Ranch, totaling one mile, with their dog(s). All dogs must be on a leash. We'll also have a special gift for all of our four-legged participants! Registration is NOT required for the Mutt Strut. 

Online registration for the 5K has CLOSED; however, you can still register for the 5K in-person during packet pick-ups or on race day.

Purpose

All Cops and Canines 5K proceeds will go toward the Bedford Police Department Benevolent Fund. This fund supports the police department employees in various ways, including assisting officers in times of personal loss and other opportunities to support the families of BPD officers. 

Schedule and Registration

7 a.m. - Race day in-person registration begins

7:45 a.m. - Opening ceremony begins

8 a.m. - 1 mile Mutt Strut begins (with special guest Zeus, the world's tallest dog, leading the way)

8:30 a.m. - 5K begins

10 a.m. - Awards ceremony/raffle basket drawings begin

7-10 a.m. - Raffle items/baskets browsing

In order to receive a race day T-shirt with registration, participants must register by March 3. There will be a limited number of shirts available to purchase on race day. 

Packet Pick-up

Packet pick-up will be at The Bedford Center YMCA (2801 Forest Ridge Dr.) on the following days and times: 

  • Thursday, March 23 - 1 to 6 p.m.
  • Friday, March 24 - 1 to 6 p.m.

Packets may also be picked up at the race site on Saturday, March 25, beginning at 7 a.m.

Raffle Items

Cops and Canines will include several raffle drawings, including tools, dog toys and treats, restaurant gift cards, various baskets, and more! Each raffle ticket will be $1 (no cash will be accepted). Once you have a raffle ticket, you’ll drop a ticket into a bin for the item you wish to win. Raffle drawings will begin around 10 a.m. and you must be present to win. 

Prizes will be awarded after the completion of the 5K. 

Animal Adoptions 

The City’s mobile adoption trailer will be at the park for anyone interested in adopting a new furry friend! All adoption fees will be waived on Saturday, March 25.
