Summer Camp FAQ's
Will the City of Bedford host a Summer Camp this year?
Yes! Bedford Recreation will be hosting Summer Camp at the Fellowship of the Parks-Bedford church campus in 2022. The camp will be 9 weeks long, beginning on June 6, 2022. Registration is available for all nine weeks in advance or can be purchased weekly (if spots remain). Registration for individual days are not available.
What are the ages for Bedford Summer Camp?
In 2022 we will welcome all children ages 6 to 10. Campers must be 6 years of age before June 1, 2022 and cannot turn 11 before August 5, 2022.
What are the drop-off and pick up times?
Bedford Summer Camp will start accepting campers as early as 7:30 a.m. and they must be picked up before 6 p.m. Parents/Guardians must be on approved pick-up list and must show ID for pick-up.
Will Camp be available on weekends?
No. Camp is Monday-Friday only.
Are there Scholarships available?
Due to limited space in Bedford Summer Camp, scholarships are not available.
Do I get a better price for being a Bedford Resident?
Yes! Bedford Residents will pay $25 less per week than non-residents.
Is lunch provided?
Campers should pack and bring their own lunch daily. Please do not send you child with items that require a microwave or fridge. There may be exceptions on field trip days where lunch will be provided. A morning and afternoon snack will be provided, if your child has food allergies please list them on the Camp Waiver.

What is the ratio of children to Camp Leaders?
Bedford aims to always have a 10 to 1 ratio in place. In rare circumstances a 15 to 1 ratio may be accepted.
How does the City of Bedford handle disciplinary problems?
Campers will first receive warnings, and if the problem persists will be given a discipline report. A camper with a sufficient number of reports on record could be unenrolled from further weeks of camp. Depending on the severity of the incident, suspension or termination may be enforced on the first occurrence. Camp Leaders will only discuss disciplinary issues with parents/caregivers of their child on file and not others involved. A copy of the report can be requested through the Bedford City Secretary's office.
My child takes medication daily, will Camp Leaders administer it for them?
A Medication Waiver is available on the full Summer Camp Waiver which must be filled out prior to Campers first day of camp. Medication must be in proper prescription bottles with instructions for administration. If your child has specific allergies please list them on the Camp Waiver.
What precautions are taken when hiring Camp Leaders?
All Camp Leaders go through the full City of Bedford hiring process which includes background checks and drug testing.
Will my child be allowed to bring their phone to Camp?
No cellphones, toys, makeup, or electronics are allowed at Camp. Bedford Summer Camp has a cell phone available at all times for emergencies or to check on your child. The Camp phone number is 817-659-4595 and can receive texts or calls.
Are there any COVID-19 protocols in place in 2022?
Bedford Summer Camps follow the same guidelines as HEB ISD and will not enforce mask wearing in 2022. Campers who wish to wear masks will be responsible for ensuring it is worn at all times and properly. Camp Leaders will continue to encourage hand washing and sanitizing as well as social distancing when space is available. If a case of COVID-19 is confirmed, Staff will alert parents/guardians if their child has been in contact.
