What is the Tree Lighting? 

This event kicks off the Holiday season here in Bedford with the Lighting of the Bedford Tree located on the lawn of Old Bedford School. 

Where and when is the event?

The 2022 Tree Lighting will be held on Saturday, December 3 from 5-8 p.m. on the Old Bedford School grounds (2400 School Ln.). The Tree will be lit at 6:20 p.m.

Is there an entrance fee for the Tree Lighting? 

There is not a charge to attend the event. Vendors and food trucks will have items for sale.  

Is this event family friendly? 

ABSOLUTELY! The event will feature music from HEBISD choirs, food trucks, vendors, children's craft and game area, and more! 

Can I bring a toy to donate? 

Yes! There will be a toy donation drop-off bin at the front of Old Bedford School (at the City’s booth) if you would like to drop off a new, unwrapped toy for the Bedford Fire Department’s annual toy drive.

Are masks required? 

Masks are not required at the event, but guests can wear them, if they'd like. We also ask that you stay home if you are sick or think you might be.

Is this a rain or shine event? 

No. The event will be canceled in the event of inclement weather. 

Does it cost to park? 

No, there is free parking at the Bedford Public Library. Parking includes overflow parking on the grass and at Bedford City Hall. There is an area to drop off those who need assistance. Please do not park in the fire lane. View a parking map at the bottom of this page.

Will there be alcohol for sale?

No. This is a dry event. 

Is the site wheelchair accessible? 

Most of the event will be on grass but there will be an area for wheelchairs users to be dropped off.

Can I bring my pet? 

Yes, but the pet must be leashed. 

Where should I go if I lose my child? 

Please go to the City of Bedford tent located in front of the building.

Are there ATMs onsite? 

No. There are several banks on Central with ATMs and the Valero gas station on Bedford Road and Forest Ridge Drive has an ATM. 

Is there live music? 

Yes. The Fellowship of the Parks Bedford Band will be playing and HEB ISD choirs perform every 25 minutes. The Community Stage Schedule is as follows:

  • 5 p.m. - Bell Manor Elementary Choir
  • 5:25 p.m. - Bedford Heights Elementary Choir
  • 5:50 p.m. - Bedford Jr High Choir
  • 6:20 p.m. - Lighting of the Tree
  • 6:45 p.m. - Trinity HS Harmony Show Choir
  • 7:10 p.m. - Stonegate Elementary Choir
  • 7:35 p.m. - Viridian Elementary Choir

Is smoking allowed? 

Smoking and vaping are allowed in the designated smoking area on the east side of the building only.

Where is the Uber/Lyft drop-off? 

The Uber/Lyft drop-off is at 1805 L Don Dodson Dr, Bedford, TX 76021 (Bedford City Hall, Building C). This location is a short walk away, but will allow your driver to safely drop you off and can be used for pick up, as well.  

Where is parking located for the event?

Parking will be next door at the Bedford Public Library (2424 Forest Ridge Dr.). Overflow parking will be located across from Bedford City Hall, Building C. Vehicles will need to enter EM Bilger Jr. Blvd from the south as the north entrance will be closed for safe pedestrian crossing. For pedestrian safety, there is no parking onsite at Old Bedford School. Those with handicap tags will be permitted to enter School Lane for drop-off only.
