Medication Disposal Drop Box at Police Department
Residents can safely dispose of expired, unused, or unwanted medications at the drop box located inside the Bedford Police Department lobby (2121 L. Don Dodson Dr.), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Accepted items include prescription pills and ointments, vitamins, pet medications, prescription patches, and over-the-counter medications.
The drop box will NOT accept needles/sharps/syringes, inhalers, aerosol cans, thermometers, lotions, liquids, or hydrogen peroxide.
Fire Department Drug Disposal and Mail Back Service
The Bedford Fire Department partnered with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services to provide another free and easy way to dispose of medication responsibly. Single-Use Disposal Systems (SUDS) are a convenient and environmentally friendly way to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications. This pre-paid Takeaway Envelope allows residents to mail unused and expired prescriptions from the privacy of home. After the SUDS is mailed, the envelopes are incinerated unopened, keeping them out of local waterways.
A Single-Use Disposal System box has been placed in the main entrance of Fire Station No. 1 (1816 Bedford Rd.). Visit Fire Station No. 1 to pick up a Take-Away Envelope. Place unused or expired medications in the envelope and mail the envelope away for safe destruction.
