Medication Disposal Program

The Bedford Fire Department has partnered with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services to provide a free and easy way to dispose of medication responsibly. Single-Use Disposal Systems (SUDS) are a convenient and environmentally-friendly way to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications. This pre-paid take-away envelope allows residents to mail unused and expired prescriptions from the privacy of home. After the SUDS is mailed, the envelopes are incinerated unopened, keeping them out of local waterways.

A Single-Use Disposal System box is located at the main entrance of Fire Station No. 1, 1816 Bedford Rd. Visit Fire Station No. 1 to pick up a Take-Away Envelope. Then, place unwanted or expired medications in the envelope and mail the envelope away for safe destruction.
