The Bedford Fire Department offers an opportunity to citizens that live or work in the city to learn more about their fire department. The Citizens Fire Academy (CFA) is offered once a year and meets one evening per week for ten weeks. More than twenty informative topics are instructed by firefighters with numerous hands-on activities. These activities allow the class participants opportunities to experience the firefighter’s job.
During and after class graduation, the class participants will be allowed to ride-out with the firefighters who are on shift.
Class participants must be 18 years or older and live or work in Bedford to attend the Academy. The class is offered free to class participants. The class participant must attend at least eight classes to graduate.
Once class participants complete the class, they will be invited to join the Bedford Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association (BCFAAA). The Alumni Association was formed to provide support to the Fire Department and firefighters. Information about the Alumni Association can be found at their Facebook page.
Additional questions can be directed to the Bedford Fire Department at 817-952-2500.
