The Bedford Police Department invites home and business owners within the City of Bedford who have security camera systems to participate in the Bedford Citizen Observation Program (BCOP) program. The program is designed to assist officers in solving crime by managing a voluntary registry of security cameras officers would be able to request footage from in the event of a crime.
If the member has captured any video footage that may assist in the investigation, an officer will contact the BCOP participant to provide a copy of the footage at the time of the crime. The footage copy will be entered into evidence to aid in prosecution of the suspects.
Participation does not mean the Police Department has access to anyone security camera system. Participation is strictly voluntary and participants may withdraw from the program at any time by providing written notice.
