Public Service Officers

The main duties of a Public Service Officer are to greet the public, provide general information to the public, answer telephones, take police reports of incidents that are not in progress, process applications for solicitors, handbill and parade permits, and provide fingerprinting to the general public.

Do you provide fingerprinting for the general public?

Yes, we provide this service Monday - Friday from 830am - 430pm.  If you're a Bedford resident, the price per card is $10.00, if you are not a Bedford resident, the price per card is $15.00. For more information on Fingerprinting, please click here.

Where can I get a Solicitor's permit?

The applications are on this website under the "Solicitor Ordinance " tab.  We also have applications at the front desk of the Police Department.  All Applicants go through a background check and are given a copy of the city ordinance for the solicitor permits and handbill permits.

What type of reports do Public Service Officers take?

Our Public Service Officers have been trained to take numerous, non-inprogress reports at the front desk or over the phone. Listed below are some of the reports they can take:
