The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for investigating crimes against property and/or persons, in addition to conducting special and undercover operations involving narcotics, gambling, organized crime, etc. The Criminal Investigations Division is staffed with detectives, investigators and crime scene technicians supervised by two sergeants and a lieutenant.
Crimes against persons means crimes that are committed by direct physical harm or force being applied to another person. Persons crimes include, but are not limited to:
- Homicide
- Assault
- Sexual Offense
- Robbery
- Kidnapping
Property crimes involve personal property and include, but are not limited to:
- Burglary
- Theft
- Auto Theft
- Criminal Mischief
The department has full-time crime scene technicians who preserve and collect physical evidence from crime scenes.
