Citizens Police Academy
The Citizens Police Academy (CPA) is a FREE 12-week course designed to provide Bedford citizens and businesses a more in-depth understanding of the inter-workings of the Police Department. Volunteers In Policing Service (VIPS)
The Bedford Police Department’s 'Volunteers In Policing Service' program trains citizen volunteers to assist the Department with police activities, enhance crime prevention, and provide additional manpower to improve service to the community.
Citizens Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.)
The Citizens Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T) is a volunteer organization made up of graduates from previous C.E.R.T classes. During a 10-week C.E.R.T course (that meets once a week), you will learn about fire suppression, search and rescue techniques, disaster first-aid, and other life-saving skills.
Bedford Citizen Observation Program (BCOP)
The Bedford Police Department offers a voluntary program designed to utilize privately-owned home and business security cameras that could contain video evidence in the area of a recent crime. By taking part in this program you take ownership in the crime-fighting process and help make Bedford a safer place to live.
Safe Return Program
The Community Services Division is proud to offer a new service called the Safe Return Program. This voluntary program will provide parents and caretakers with a mechanism to share crucial information with police officers who are responding to calls for service involving individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's, or a developmental disorder diagnosis.
