Special Olympics/Bedford Police Polar Plunge

Are you brrrrrrrrrrrave enough? The Bedford Police Department is teaming up with Special Olympics Texas to host its first Polar Plunge. The polar plunge will begin at 10 a.m., with participants jumping into the chilly water at the facility’s outdoor water park. Registration is $40 for adults, $20 for youth, and includes a Polar Plunge T-shirt.

Crud Cruiser: Hazardous Waste Disposal

Saturday, March 9
Time: 9 to 11 a.m. (or until the trailer reaches capacity)
Location: Meadow Park Athletic Complex, 3200 Meadow Park Dr.

Bedford residents can dispose of household hazardous and electronic waste at this drop-off event. View the Crud Cruiser webpage for a list of acceptable materials and how to properly bring waste.

Holi Festival of Color

Saturday, March 9
Time: 2 to 5 p.m.
Location: Generations Park at Boys Ranch, 2801 Forest Ridge Dr.

Celebrate color and the arrival of spring at the City’s second annual Holi Festival of Color. Holi is an ancient Indian celebration that marks the beginning of spring after a long winter and is symbolic of the triumph of good over evil. The festival will include live performances by local Indian dance groups, a DJ, food trucks, chalk art, henna tattoos, and much more! The highlight of the festival will feature throwing colored chalk (the powder is safe and non-toxic) into the air and on one another, creating a bright sea of colors.

Spring Break Drop-In

Join us at Generations Park at Boys Ranch for a afternoon of fun – bring a picnic lunch and enjoy kid-friendly activities starting at 12 p.m., at the Playground Pavilion. Around 1:10 p.m., we will head over to The Bedford Center YMCA for an exciting session with the Creature Teacher!

Mornings with the Mayor

Library Friends Backyard Picnic

Saturday, April 6
Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Library Greenspace, 2424 Forest Ridge Dr.
Fee: NO entrance fee, just bring money for food trucks

Come hang out with the Bedford Library Friends in our backyard! Enjoy food trucks, games, and music. The Friends will be selling 500 solar eclipse glasses for $2 a piece. There will also be Goat Yoga at 11 a.m. (must purchase a ticket in advance) and a plant swap at 1 p.m.

Solar Eclipse Watch Party

Monday, April 8
Time: 12 to 2 p.m.
Location: Bedford Library Greenspace, 2424 Forest Ridge Dr.

Join us in the Library Greenspace for this rare event across North America! Bring a picnic or purchase your lunch from a food truck that will be on-site. The Library will be giving away free eclipse glasses (one per family), while supplies last.

Chunk Your Junk

Saturday, April 20
Location: Meadow Park Athletic Complex, 3200 Meadow Park Dr.

Dispose of unwanted items from homes, garages, and yards, such as broken furniture or odds and ends that do not fit into the residential trash container. Learn more about Chunk Your Junk

Clean Up Bedford Day

Saturday, April 20
Time: 9 a.m. to noon
Location: Meet at Bedford Library, 2424 Forest Ridge Dr.
Register Online

Volunteers of all ages are invited to participate in Bedford's annual Clean Up Day. Supplies will be provided, such as litter pickers, trash and recycle bags, and gloves. Water and snacks will be provided, as well. Specific areas targeted for cleaning are major streets, parks, parking lots, City Hall, the Police and Fire Stations, as well as the Post Offices, Library, Old Bedford School and other public areas.

Art at the Park features a variety of art vendors, live performances and music, food trucks, face painting, henna art, airbrush tattoos, chalk art, and more! Applications to become a vendor for Art at the Park will be available in March. Visit the Art at the Park webpage for additional details.
